The Big Scare of Ransomware
You’ve seen the headlines, you’ve heard the horror stories. It’s here. It’s real.
What is Ransomware?
Ransomware is a form of malware that infects a computer or system. Data on the computer is encrypted and locked. Access is not given back to the victim until some form of payment has been made, usually by some form of crypto currency like Bitcoin. Juniper research predicts the cost of data breaches will increase to $2.1 trillion globally by 2019. And it’s not just big banks and mega-corporations being targeted. Small and medium-sized businesses are being targeted at increasing rates.
